Liselo Labs has formulated an egg-extract and Turmeric fortified yogurt, containing active ingredients that are currently being evaluated in dietary trials in COVID-19 patients. The proposed modes-of-action for this diet under investigation include:
- Predicted inhibition of viral entry through avian antibody-based binding to conserved regions of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein responsible for viral entry and/or subsequent endosomal escape and hence cell entry. (may inhibit SARS-CoV-2 virions from gaining entry into human cells)
- Predicted reduction in severe mast cell activated immunopathology (may reduce lung inflammation in patients with COVID-19 and alleviate allergies)
- Predicted inhibition of NF-kB activation. (may assist with reducing systemic inflammation)
The information generated from the use of this yogurt may facilitate a better understanding of SARS-CoV-2 infections and diseases caused by coronaviruses in general.
Patients with chronic allergies or who have tested positive for COVID-19 are requested to try the yogurt formulation, and record the results online to assist us to evaluate its effects on the immune response. Coronaviruses naturally infect some bird species which have developed resistance and protect their offspring through antibodies deposited into eggs. We propose that similar protection can be naturally extended to humans through passive immunity. Liselo labs have produced and characterized avian antibodies that directly bind to the receptor-binding domain(RBD) of SARS-CoV-2, and are able to neutralize viral entry in sVNT studies in-vitro. Consequently, Liselo Labs has developed the Sankatana fortified yogurt containing these antibodies that may hypothetically reduce the immune response triggered by COVID-19, and also directly target the virus to facilitate clearance.
